New Stock Transfer Form
In April 2012, HMRC revised the stock transfer form. The new form is now available on our site for download, and although the old form will continue to be accepted until September 2012, we recommend that you adopt the new form immediately.
The only change to the form is that a new certificate has been added to the reverse. The old form only provided a certificate covering the situation where the transaction was exempt from stamp duty because the consideration for the transfer was less than £1,000.
The revised form contains an additional certificate which aims to cover other circumstances where the transaction will be exempt from duty; for example where the shares are being transferred in connection with a divorce or the dissolution of a civil partnership.
The HMRC hope that this will reduce the number of rejected forms.
