Guidance Notes For Employers: Employees Working From Home During Covid-19 Restrictions
EMP.CV.01
In the current Covid-19 crisis, many employees are now having to work from
home. However, employers are still required to look after the health and
safety of their employees when they are working from home, whether it is a
temporary situation or a regular one. As this situation has arisen very
quickly, it is unlikely that employers have had a chance to properly
consider the health and safety issues their homeworking staff may face.
This guidance note looks at the use of IT equipment and some of the issues
to consider around homeworking and stress. Domestic tables and chairs are
often not at the correct height to work at for long periods using a
computer, laptop or tablet. Furthermore, home working can cause
work-related stress and affect people’s mental health, as being away from
colleagues can make it difficult to get proper support.
