Improvement Letter Following Informal Discussion

This Improvement Letter should be used by employers after the informal discussion with the concerned employee in order to confirm that the employee has achieved a satisfactory level of performance or improved conduct.

According to the ACAS Code of Practice, employers should try to address cases of minor misconduct or unsatisfactory performance informally. However, where matters are serious or where the informal approach does not resolve the matter employers should begin taking formal action.

This Improvement Letter should be used in accordance with the Guidance Note: Disciplinary Procedure and the Disciplinary Policy and Procedure .

Please note that in the event of continued poor performance or misconduct, the employer should consider taking formal action against the employee.
