Site Work Method Statement – Fitting Rainwater Goods

This Method Statementis for the fitting of new or replacement rainwater goods. These will include guttering, downpipes, gulleys and hoppers etc. Whether they are made from plastic, aluminium, or any other pre-formed metal, the basics of fitting will be the same.

As guttering is always at the top of the building there is always work at height to consider. Your Method Statement will show how you propose to access and then work the area safely. Perching on a ladder and stretching to reach the next fixing bracket is not acceptable practice, and your Method Statement needs to demonstrate how you will work.

Writing a Method Statement is an important part of managing risks around the work site.  Even if you are working on a small domestic project you should write a Method Statement if only to use it as a ‘tick box’ exercise to make sure you have thought about the safety issues involved.
