Site Work Method Statement – Electrical Installation

HS.MS.23
This site Method Statement is for works involved in running new electric cabling, cutting and fitting conduit, and connecting to an existing power supply. Electricity always the capacity to kill so it is important that you take extra care especially when working with or connecting to existing services.

Even if you are working on a small domestic project you will still be exposed to the same hazards as on a large commercial one, so you should always write a Method Statementif only to use it as a ‘tick box’ exercise to make sure you have thought about the safety issues involved.

This worked example draws on a variety of real life situations, some of the hazards identified may be relevant, others may not. How you fill in your own form will differ and will depend entirely on your company’s/client’s current health and safety procedures, but those shown provide an idea of how they could work.

This form has been professionally written for you to either print or fill in while carrying out your assessment on location or to use simply as a template. You may also find it useful to refer to some of the worked examples and the guidance notes.
