Example Party Wall Structure Acknowledgment

PROP.CON.19

The Party Wall Act etc 1996 requires a notice of any proposed works to be served on an adjoining owner who must consent to the works before they can commence.

This Example Party Wall Acknowledgment shows the type of information which should be included within a party wall positive acknowledgment and provides explanatory notes. To make the process as easy as possible for an adjoining neighbour to agree to any proposed works, it is recommended that a pre-populated acknowledgment is served at the same time as the notice. The adjoining owner simply needs to sign, date and return the acknowledgment not the building owner. This provides the formal written agreement required under the Act.

This Example Party Wall Acknowledgment is for reference purposes only.  You are advised to seek advice from your legal adviser or a party wall surveyor and/or check the Government’s Party Wall Act explanatory booklet to ensure the latest requirements for party wall agreements are met and the format of any notices and acknowledgments are in line with any updates to the Act.
