Employer's Breastfeeding Notification Acknowledgement Letter

EMP.MAT.17a

This Breastfeeding Notification Acknowledgement letter is designed for use by an employer to respond to notification by an employee on maternity leave that she will be breastfeeding on her return to work.

An employer is under a duty to provide a suitable area for new mothers to rest and to safely express and store milk while at work. A risk assessment should have been conducted early on in the maternity process. If this has not been done for any reason, it must be completed prior to the employee’s return to work. This should identify any hazards to a new mother. Any such hazards must be removed prior to the employee’s return.

This letter contains two optional paragraphs. The first is to be used when the appropriate facilities are not available. It ensures the employee that these facilities will be available to her on her return. Once this letter is sent, employers should waste no time in making the workplace ready to accommodate a new mother. The second paragraph simply informs the mother that the appropriate facilities are in place and await her return.

Optional phrases and / or paragraphs are enclosed in square brackets.

This Breastfeeding Notification Acknowledgement is in open format. Either enter the requisite details in the highlighted fields or adjust the wording to suit your purposes.

When you click on the “Download Document” button below you will be asked what you want to do with the file. It is recommended that you save the document to a location of your choice prior to viewing.
