This set of Car Rental Terms and Conditions (B2C) has been designed for use by a car rental business. Its terms are sufficiently broad to cater for businesses supplying vehicles ranging from super-minis to super cars.
It is for use only where the customer of the car rental business acts as a “consumer” in relation to the vehicle rental.
"Consumer” is defined in the Consumer Rights Act 2015 as an individual who receives services for his/her personal use and for purposes wholly or mainly outside the business of that individual or another. However, where the customer of the rental business is not acting as a consumer (i.e. the customer is renting wholly or mainly for business purposes), we have provided an accompanying alternative set of terms, the Car Rental Terms and Conditions (B2B).
Designed to be as comprehensive as possible, these terms and conditions draw on best practice in the car rental industry and represent a highly detailed document which leaves nothing to the imagination of either the rental company or the customer.
A number of flexible elements have been included in this document. Classes and types of vehicles, eligibility requirements, rental rates and time limits are some examples of details which are discretionary, allowing you to adapt this document to meet the needs of your business.
Optional phrases / clauses are enclosed in square brackets. These should be read carefully and selected so as to be compatible with one another. Unused options should be removed from the agreement.
