Equal Pay Audit Guidance Notes

EMP.EOP.01

Although private companies are not legally required to carry out equal pay audits, it is good practice for all companies to conduct them regularly.

As of October 2014, employment tribunals have the power to require employers to carry out equal pay audits where they have breached the equal pay legislation. Carrying out regular equal pay audits makes it less likely that inequalities of pay will occur and also demonstrates a commitment to a fair pay system.

These Equal Pay Audit Guidance Notes explain the process to be followed and issues to be considered in preparing an equal pay audit.

See also the Simply-Docs Equal Pay Audit Form, which can be used to collate and compare pay information to identify significant gaps.
