Letter to extend a probationary period

Extension of Probationary Period Letter

This Extension of Probationary Period Letter is sent by the employer to confirm to the employee that the Probationary Period in the employee’s Contract of Employment is to be extended for a further period.

It states that the employee’s probationary period will be extended and lists the reasons for this extension. The letter also states that employment may be terminated if the employee fails to reach the employer’s required standards.

In deciding for how long the probationary period should be extended, the employer should be aware that unfair dismissal rights apply after two year’s service.
