This Resignation Following Maternity letter is for the use of an employee that is either due to begin maternity leave or is already on maternity leave. If a woman does not wish to return to work after maternity leave, she can still take the leave, claiming Statutory Maternity Pay or Maternity Allowance, and time her resignation in such a way that it takes effect at the end of her leave.
This resignation letter contains two optional opening sentences. The first is for use by employees that have already begun their maternity leave; the second is for those who have not yet started their leave.
